Internal criticism in the IDF regarding the continuation of the fighting in Lebanon

According to reports on Al Jazeera, relying on quotes from the "Israel Hayom" newspaper, criticism is growing among senior IDF officers regarding the conduct of the campaign in the northern sector. The officers are quoted as saying that "there is no benefit in staying in Lebanon" and that the army is not achieving tangible results in the current combat configuration.

In a series of reports published today, the officers described the state of affairs as ambiguous, and claimed that "our mission is not understood", while questioning whether the political echelon is actually interested in a ceasefire or in the continuation of the fighting.
