Today, May 17, 2026, pension payments and special holiday bonuses for retirees in Turkey begin. The economic move, dubbed a "double holiday" by officials, is intended to provide financial relief to hundreds of thousands of senior citizens in the country.

According to a report by the TGRT HABER network, which covers domestic Turkish economic issues extensively, the government announced the transfer of payments starting today, with retirees receiving both the monthly pension and the promised holiday bonus.

At the same time, the Telegram channel Sansürsüz Medya +18, which is identified with a more critical approach toward the establishment, confirmed the start of the fund transfers. According to the channel, the amount to be deposited into the bank accounts of the eligible recipients is 4,000 Turkish Liras.

The move comes as part of government commitments to support the elderly population in Turkey during the holiday period, a step perceived as a critical measure for coping with the current cost of living in the country.
