A major fire broke out at the ancient Daihoji temple complex in the city of Takaoka, Japan, a site established back in the 15th century. According to reports from Russian media outlets, including РИА Новости, the fire spread to several buildings in the complex, but no human casualties were reported.

Vesti News Channel as well as Moskovsky Komsomolets (MK) noted that about 20 firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene to gain control over the flames. Local emergency services and the police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the fire to assess the extent of the damage caused to the heritage site.

In parallel with the journalistic reports, an unusual claim was raised on the Душная община Telegram channel, which is identified with a distinct and vocal pro-Russian stance, according to which the fire was caused by the activity of Ukrainians. This claim was not supported by any official source or other media outlets, and it appears to be an interpretation with a propaganda tone typical of the channel's editorial line, which uses international events to bash the Ukrainian side.
