Repatriation of war dead to Ukraine
According to coordinated reports from numerous media outlets, including Lachen writes and DeepState, Ukraine has completed a significant repatriation operation in which the bodies of 528 fighters were returned. Official sources, including the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, stated that these are remains which the Russian side claims belong to Ukrainian military personnel killed during the clashes.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that a critical phase of identifying the deceased will now begin, carried out by experts from law enforcement agencies and the healthcare system. The General Staff thanked the search groups of the humanitarian project "On the Shield" (На Щиті), which continue to operate under fire and in a dangerous environment under the coordination of civil-military cooperation management.
In parallel with the announcements of the repatriation of the fallen, dozens of media outlets and official channels, including the official channel of the Kyiv City Administration and Radio Svoboda, highlighted the observance of a "national minute of silence" held every morning at 09:00 in memory of all military and civilian victims of the Russian invasion.
Regional authorities, including the Lviv Regional Military Administration, published lists of fighters identified as fallen on this day, some of whom were previously classified as missing. The operational and humanitarian activity surrounding the return of the bodies is seen as an integral part of the national effort to preserve the memory of the fallen and ensure they receive a dignified burial.
