Growing tension at the Ukraine-Belarus border

Leaders and security officials in Ukraine are expressing growing concern over the possibility of a new front opening from the direction of Belarus. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russia is considering operational plans both against the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction and against NATO countries. Former Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba claims that Putin is constantly working to drag Lukashenko into the war, noting that there are currently "only two questions: the vector of movement and when it will happen."

In response to these threats, the Operational Command "West" announced an increase in operational readiness and the transformation of the border line into a literal "fortress." Reports indicate the construction of kilometers of fortifications, minefields, and anti-tank trenches in the Polissia region. However, Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev emphasized that as of now, no critical buildup of Russian forces has been identified in Belarus, although the army remains in full readiness for any scenario.

At the same time, Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukrainian intelligence, addressed concerns regarding nuclear escalation. In an interview with "The Times," Budanov clarified that "if Russia were planning a nuclear strike, I would know about it," noting that there are currently no early signs of such preparations, despite Moscow's technical capability.

In addition, a significant increase in the effectiveness of Ukrainian strikes against Russian oil infrastructure was reported. According to Reuters, Ukrainian drones have disabled 16 refineries this year, which severely hurts Kremlin revenues. At the same time, a decree by Putin to grant Russian citizenship to residents of Transnistria was reported, a move perceived in Moldova as an attempt to recruit additional soldiers for the front.
