Reports in foreign media and Telegram groups are resurfacing the nature of the personal relationship between President Zelensky and his Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak.
A glimpse into the relationship at the heart of the Ukrainian government
Reports that have recently surfaced on social media, including on Zone AP and the channel of Anatoliy Shariy, are resurfacing a Financial Times article dealing with the exceptional personal closeness between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak.
According to the sources, the bond between the two exceeds purely professional work boundaries. Their aides and allies are quoted in Zone AP as saying that the relationship between them is more than just work, with Andrii Sybiha defining Yermak as a "close ally" or "brother-in-arms."
The reports describe a shared daily routine in a fortified bunker, where the two spend their free time together, ranging from table tennis games and watching classic movies to shared morning fitness workouts. Alexander Rodnyansky, a film producer and friend of Yermak, was quoted in those same sources as saying about the two that "both train diligently" and that Yermak "likes to appear as an attractive man."
It is important to note that the reporting sources, and especially Anatoliy Shariy, are known as entities with a sharply critical position toward the administration in Kyiv, and often publish materials intended to cast doubt on the personal and political conduct of senior officials in the Ukrainian government.
