Escalation in the North: IDF strikes Hezbollah infrastructure following ceasefire violation
During the day (May 16, 2026), the IDF began a targeted wave of strikes against terror infrastructure of the Hezbollah organization in southern Lebanon and the districts of Sidon and Nabatieh. As reported on News from the Field on Telegram and ynet News, the strikes came following official evacuation notices distributed by the IDF Spokesperson to residents of several villages and towns.
According to Hadashot 360, the evacuation instructions were issued for a series of localities, including Kaakaiyat al-Sanawbar, Arzai, and al-Bisariyeh, due to "violations of the ceasefire agreement by Hezbollah." A report by Abu Ali Express noted that following the warnings, heavy movement of residents evacuating the area was recorded, while at the same time the actual strikes began.
Sources identified with a critical perspective toward Israel, the channel Asrar Lubnan (Secrets of Lebanon), described the moves as "systematic evacuation from south of the Litani" and noted that the war has returned to the city of Tyre. According to the channel, the IDF assesses that Hezbollah has moved assets and terrorists to the city of Tyre and is using it as a "significant headquarters."
Parallel to the operational activity in southern Lebanon, ynet News reported sirens heard in the Golan Heights area, which later turned out to be "false alarms." The situation on the ground remains tense, as according to Shachar Kleiman (Arab Desk), the strikes constitute a direct response to the continuation of the Shiite organization's violations.
