According to reports on the Telegram channels خبرفوری ࡆ اخبارفوری مذاکره ࡆ جنگ فوری and خبری پلاس|خبرفوری 🔖فوری, the Institute of Geophysics at the University of Tehran has released data indicating particularly active seismic activity across the country in the recent period.
In the joint report, which relies on data from the academic institute, it was noted that between April 18 and May 8, 2026 (29 Farvardin to 18 Ordibehesht according to the Iranian calendar), more than 250 earthquakes were recorded at various epicenters across the country. According to خبرفوری, this covers a period of only three weeks.
Out of the total seismic events, the most powerful quake measured was 5.1 on the Richter scale. The event occurred in the Sefidabeh region of Sistan and Baluchestan Province. No immediate reports of heavy damage or casualties were provided following this series of events.
