A fleet of dozens of vessels carrying hundreds of activists has departed from Turkey with the goal of reaching the vicinity of the Gaza Strip, with arrival expected on Sunday.

According to a report by the Sputnik Türkiye channel, which is identified with pro-Russian positions and critical of the West, the international flotilla known as "Küresel Sumud Filosu" (The Global Sumud Flotilla) is continuing its voyage in the Mediterranean Sea. The flotilla, composed of 54 vessels, is currently located about 27 miles east of the island of Rhodes, carrying about 500 activists from 45 different countries.
According to Sputnik Türkiye, the vessels are moving at an average speed of 5 knots. If they continue their movement at the current pace, it is estimated that the fleet will arrive at a point located "100 miles from the vicinity of Gaza" on the afternoon of Sunday, May 17, 2026.
At the same time, the DoğruHaber channel, identified with an Islamic-conservative line, reports that the flotilla departed from the shores of Marmaris, Turkey, on May 14. According to the report, the organizers published an official declaration defining the "legal nature of the flotilla's voyage" according to DoğruHaber, with the aim of providing international validity to their activities as part of the effort to reach the Strip.
