Escalation in the North and IDF activity in Lebanon

Today (14.5.26) there was a significant escalation on the northern border. According to the IDF Spokesperson, an explosive drone launched by Hezbollah hit civilians in Rosh HaNikra, an event that led to the wounding of three civilians, two of them seriously. IDF sources noted that no alerts were activated in this instance and that the event is under investigation. Following this, the IDF began striking Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure in southern Lebanon, as reported in Hadashot MeHashtach.

Defense Minister Israel Katz addressed the drone threat at a memorial ceremony on Mount Herzl and emphasized: "We are well aware of the drone threat. Alongside solutions already implemented in the field, there are several additional solutions... Hezbollah will pay the full price" (as published in HaHadashot HaHamot). At the same time, it was reported in Rega Hadashot that Israel is not committing to a comprehensive ceasefire and clarifies that an IDF withdrawal will be conditioned on establishing Lebanese control against Hezbollah.

Serious Espionage Affair

The Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and the police announced today the arrest and indictment of a Tira resident, Ahmad Fawaz Abd al-Aziz Daas, for carrying out security missions for Iranian entities during wartime. According to the statement by the Shin Bet and Police, the defendant photographed and sent the locations of sensitive security sites in Israel to his Iranian handlers.

The UAE Visit Storm

Conflicting reports accompany the issue of Prime Minister Netanyahu's visit to the United Arab Emirates. While the Prime Minister's Office confirmed the visit took place, the Emirati Foreign Ministry issued an official denial and called on the media to be accurate in its reporting. Conversely, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi claimed that Iran's security services were aware of the visit in advance and warned the Emirates against the consequences of ties with Israel (as reported in Abu Ali Express).
