In a dramatic move that is causing repercussions in the political and religious system in Iran, Marja Hossein Nouri-Hamedani – a religious figure identified with the regime – has approved the transfer of 'Wujubat Shar'i' (religious funds and tithes) of the followers of the 'martyred leader' to the hands of Mojtaba Khamenei. In his ruling (fatwa), Nouri-Hamedani defines Mojtaba as a "Faqih Jame-al-Sharayit" (a religious jurist who meets all the halachic conditions).

According to a report by Iran International, which is identified with a critical line toward the regime in Iran, the ruling constitutes a clear message regarding the future status of Mojtaba Khamenei. In his letter, the Marja noted that the transfer of funds "will clear the debt of conscience" of the believers, with the understanding that the funds will be used to promote religious seminaries (madrasas) and seminary students.

Conversely, media outlets identified with the regime, such as IRNA (the official news agency of the Islamic Republic) and the IRGC news channel (a channel identified with the Revolutionary Guards), presented the details in a more formal manner. According to reports in IRNA, the ruling was issued in response to a question from a group of believers who sought to continue their previous religious path, with the letter emphasizing that the ultimate goal is "the promotion of religious seminaries and the management of the affairs of seminary students."

Experts estimate that the ruling is not accidental and serves as an additional layer in strengthening the status of the Supreme Leader's son as his successor within the religious-political system in Tehran, this under the title of 'martyred leader' attributed to his late father.
