The Iranian President's directive to curb the high cost of living
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued an urgent directive to Ministry of Agriculture officials to act decisively to curb rising prices in the country. In a post published on the social network X, the president was quoted as saying: "I want them to exert all their power to control prices."
In his remarks, the President expressed appreciation for the ministry's employees, from the most remote villages to the capital, and praised the incumbent minister for their work since the beginning of the "Ramadan War" (a reference to the current military campaign) in the field of food supply and public livelihood. According to the official IRNA news agency, which is identified with the official government line, the President emphasized that "it is our duty to stand by the people with all our might."
The report on the directive received widespread distribution on Telegram channels identified with security and regime elements in Iran, including the Revolutionary Guards channel and the Qods News channel. These channels emphasize the connection between the economic effort and national cohesion during wartime.
The directive comes against the backdrop of ongoing economic difficulties in Iran, as the administration attempts to focus public attention on managing the economic crisis under the heading of assisting the underprivileged classes in the periphery and in major cities.
