The cultural world in Russia bows its head upon learning of the death of actor Vadim Alexandrov, who passed away on May 8 at the age of 87. Alexandrov, a respected artist who played approximately 150 roles during his career, was a familiar figure in both Soviet and Russian cinema.
According to various reports in Russian media outlets, there is some ambiguity regarding the circumstances of his death. While Telegram channels such as SHOT and Москва сейчас claimed that the actor suffered from an oncological disease and that his death was caused by a heart attack, other sources present a different picture. The official news agency RBC, based on information provided by the actor's family, reported that the cause of death was "head trauma as a result of a fall," and that although Alexandrov was indeed battling an oncological disease, it was not the direct cause of his death.
Alexandrov is remembered by the audience primarily for his roles in classic films such as "The Crew" (Экипаж), "Jazzmen" (Мы из джаза), and "The Very Same Munchhausen" (Тот самый Мюнхгаузен), as well as popular series such as "Daddy's Daughters" (Папины дочки) and "Voroniny" (Воронины). The TASS channel, which is identified with the official narrative of the Russian government, noted his long-standing professional work in Moscow's major theaters.
The actor passed away at his home in the Sokolniki district of Moscow. The Kommersant channel reviewed his professional path, from graduating from the Shchepkin Higher Theatre School in 1962 to his long tenure at the Theatre-Studio under the direction of Oleg Tabakov, where he played diverse characters in classic plays.
