Israel is baking: A heavy heatwave is upon us

Today, Tuesday, May 12, 2026, the State of Israel is experiencing a significant rise in temperatures. As reported in The Hot News, a day that is "hotter than usual and dry to heatwave conditions" is expected, accompanied by haze in some areas. At News Arena, they noted that this is a "heavy heatwave that is uncharacteristic for this period."

Temperatures are expected to reach significant peaks; at Voice of the News on 🆃🅴🅻🅴🅶🆁🅰️🅼🔴 they emphasized that while 28 degrees will be measured in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Ariel will reach 32 degrees, and up to 39 degrees will be recorded in Eilat and Tiberias. Weather Ltd. published a detailed list including high temperatures in many towns, among them Be'er Sheva and Ofakim with 36 and 38 degrees respectively.

Following the expected heat stress, Weather Ltd. issued a "yellow alert for heat stress" which will be in effect between 13:00 and 19:00 in extensive areas, including the Beit She'an Valley, the Jordan Valley, the Negev, and the Arava.

Regarding the rest of the week, 🎗️Israel News IL🎗️ reports a temporary relief on Wednesday with a drop in temperatures, but warns of renewed warming on Thursday, when heatwave conditions are expected again. The weekend, however, is expected to be cooler than the seasonal average with a chance of light rain in the north.

Regarding sea conditions, Weather Ltd. updates that the sea is calm to light, with a water temperature of 22 degrees and no jellyfish presence, but notes that surfing conditions are not ideal.
