Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf: "There is no alternative to the Iranian proposal"

Iranian Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, declared today (May 12, 2026) that there is no alternative to accepting the "14-point plan" proposed by Tehran, and that any other approach by the US administration will lead to "failure after failure."

According to a report in Iran International, a channel associated with the Iranian opposition and a harsh critic of the regime, Ghalibaf wrote on the social network X that the US must stop its procrastination on the matter. He emphasized that "the longer they delay, the heavier the cost that will fall on American taxpayers" according to Iran International.

At the same time, the agency Khorasan Online, associated with the conservative establishment in Iran, published similar remarks in Ghalibaf's name. According to the report, the Speaker of the Parliament claimed that the Iranian proposal is the only way to ensure the "rights of the Iranian people" according to Khorasan Online. Ghalibaf's message sets a firm and uncompromising line towards the administration in Washington, using rhetoric aimed both at the local audience and at exerting economic-political pressure on the US administration.
