Central Kyiv is in turmoil after Bankova Street was blocked by security forces, while sources report the filing of an official suspicion against Chief of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak.
Political and security tension in the heart of Kyiv
On May 11, 2026, most Ukrainian Telegram channels reported a sudden and significant blockade of Bankova Street and the streets adjacent to it in Kyiv, where the Presidential Office is located. According to Member of Parliament Oleksiy Honcharenko, the area was flooded with dozens of buses and people in uniform, which sparked a wave of speculation and questions among the public and the media regarding the nature of the activity.
Parallel to the reports of the blockades, the channel Times of Ukraine published a dramatic report stating that an official suspicion (pidozra) was delivered to Andriy Yermak, Chief of the Office of the President of Ukraine, by the law enforcement authorities of the NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine). This report was also shared by the channel Україна⚡️Новини⚡️Війна, although official sources have yet to issue a detailed confirmation regarding the nature of the investigation or its connection to the blockades on Bankova Street.
Additional events in the capital
Alongside the tense political occurrences, social networks reporting on events in the capital, such as Київ ІНФО, documented additional security and civil incidents during the day. Among other things, a case was documented in which TCK (territorial recruitment and social support center) personnel forcibly removed a man from marshrutka (minibus) No. 205 near the Demiivska metro station. Similar events involving confrontations with recruiters were also reported in Odesa by Труха⚡️Одесса.
On the civil front, the city experienced several safety incidents. Київ | Times reported on a heroic rescue operation by citizens who saved an elderly woman from a house that caught fire in the Akademgorodok area. Additionally, there were reports of an explosion in the Pozniaky area, which fortunately was not defined by local authorities as an event with broad security implications.
