Political contacts: Lieberman rejects the possibility of a merger with Eisenkot at this stage
Against the backdrop of political preparations for the elections, Yisrael Beiteinu party chairman, MK Avigdor Lieberman, addressed today (May 11, 2026) the possibility of joining forces with Minister Gadi Eisenkot. According to Amit Segal, who is associated with center-right positions and broad political commentary, Lieberman clarified that there is currently no feasibility for such a move.
In a joint report by reporters Amir Ettinger and Yuval Segev, Lieberman was quoted as saying: "At the moment there is no point in a merger; such things are done close to the last minute." The Yisrael Beiteinu chairman added that the two are holding long conversations, but at the current stage, each side is focused on establishing its independent strength: "We sat down and we talk at length; right now everyone is trying to maximize their power, and close to the elections we will sit and decide if there is any point in a merger."
According to him, although they are operating separately, there is a certain coordination between the parties. The information also resonated on the 🎗️Israel News IL🎗️ channel, which reported on Lieberman's words as part of the political picture taking shape ahead of the upcoming elections.
