Escalation on the Northern Border: Death of an IDF soldier and intense exchanges of fire
During the last day, a serious escalation was reported on the northern border. According to the IDF Spokesperson, as reported on Al Jazeera, an IDF soldier was killed yesterday as a result of a drone explosion launched by Hezbollah in the Manara area. This incident brings the number of deaths among Israeli security forces since the beginning of March to 18, as also published in the Quds News Network.
Simultaneously, media outlets in Lebanon, led by Al Mayadeen, reported that Hezbollah forces carried out a series of targeted attacks using suicide drones against an Israeli military force entrenched in a house in Baydar al-Faqani in the village of Taybeh. According to these sources, the attack was carried out in three waves, with the third wave directed against a rescue force that arrived at the scene. Al Mayadeen notes that "an enemy helicopter intervened to evacuate the casualties under smoke cover and heavy fire."
Conversely, Israeli media reported that the IDF responded with extensive airstrikes and artillery shelling against targets in southern Lebanon, with reports of explosion sounds heard across the Galilee. In the Lebanese media, including Palestine Today Channel, the situation within Israeli security organizations was described as "confusion and anxiety" due to the difficulty in identifying and intercepting drones, referred to by sources as an "Israeli nightmare."
The tension in the region is reaching a peak against the backdrop of claims by Beirut News regarding "Iranian-Israeli coordination" supposedly aimed at thwarting future negotiations. At the same time, reports in TRT Arabi indicate that Hezbollah has increased the use of offensive drones, while publishing documentation of a strike on Israeli air defense equipment.
