Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, referred today, May 11, 2026, to the fate of Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Iran's Supreme Leader. According to reports coming from Telegram channels identified with opposition figures and foreign reports, Netanyahu claims that "Mojtaba Khamenei is alive" (مجتبی خامنهای زنده است) and that he is likely hiding in a "bunker or some secret location" (پناهگاه یا در برخی مکان های مخفی).
The remarks were first brought by the channel اخبارفوری خبرفوری جنگ امریکا فوری, which presents a journalistic line focused on foreign and security news, and were subsequently also reported on the channel پیام ایران, which is identified with the Iranian opposition. According to the report by the channel پیام ایران, Netanyahu estimated that despite Mojtaba's attempts to exercise his power, he does not hold the strength that his father, Ali Khamenei, had.
Netanyahu further added, as quoted on the channel پیام ایران, that the current situation is leading to "disruptions/instability" (اختلالاتی) within the Iranian regime, and noted that in his view "this is not a bad thing." These statements come against the backdrop of growing tensions and intelligence assessments regarding the stability of the regime in Tehran.
