The war in Ukraine: new data on Russian casualties and continuous attacks

According to a joint investigation by independent Russian media outlets, including «Mediazona» and «Meduza», the number of Russian soldiers killed in the war in Ukraine by the end of 2025 is estimated at 352,000 people. The data, based on probate records and lists of names, includes approximately 261,000 confirmed dead and approximately 90,000 missing persons declared dead by courts. Official sources in Ukraine cite even higher numbers, with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reporting approximately 1,340,270 personnel casualties (killed and wounded) since the beginning of the invasion in February 2022.

Despite announcements of a ceasefire, Russia has continued to launch attack assets towards Ukraine. According to Ukraine NOW, an "Iskander-M" ballistic missile was launched overnight along with 43 attack UAVs. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to intercept or suppress 34 of the vehicles, but hits were reported at six different locations.

In the ground combat sector, President Volodymyr Zelensky reported a Russian attack using guided aerial bombs (FAB) on the city center of Kramatorsk, which resulted in the deaths of seven people and additional injuries. At the same time, forces of the Marines and special units continue to carry out targeted operations to destroy military equipment, including artillery systems and ammunition depots.

An analysis by UKRAINIAN MILITANT reveals a picture of changes in Russian defense formations, with the identification of a "fourth line of defense" surrounding the Moscow region. The source claims this is an expression of the "paranoia" of the Russian leadership, which is leading to the concentration of air defense forces around the capital at the expense of protection in other areas of the country.
