[53980] Severe escalation on the northern border: Heavy exchange of fire between the IDF and Hezbollah
Extensive military escalation on the Lebanon border
Intense military activity has been recorded over the last day on the Israel-Lebanon border. The IDF Spokesperson reported that the Israel Defense Forces struck over 85 Hezbollah terror targets and infrastructure during the last 24 hours, including weapon depots, launch positions, and buildings used for military activity. Among other things, the IDF noted that an underground site in the Beqaa Valley used for the production of weaponry was struck.
On the other hand, Hezbollah published a series of statements regarding attacks against IDF forces. According to the reports, the organization made extensive use of suicide drones and artillery shells against troop concentrations and military vehicles in southern Lebanese localities, including Rshaf, Deir Seryan, Shi'ihin, and Al-Khiam. The organization claimed it achieved "direct and confirmed hits" against a Merkava tank, a military bulldozer, a communications vehicle, and concentrations of soldiers.
Hezbollah stated that some of the attacks were carried out as a "response to occupation strikes and the violation of the ceasefire agreement." At the same time, aerial incidents were reported over Lebanon, with Hezbollah claiming its operatives "confronted an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle using a surface-to-air missile" in the airspace of the village of Al-Abasiyah.
On the Israeli side, it was reported by Keshet 12 and other sources that four missiles were fired toward Metula and that there were drone impacts near the border. The IDF Spokesperson confirmed that a drone launched by Hezbollah struck an engineering vehicle with no casualties. Simultaneously, media outlets in Lebanon, including Lebanon News, reported on a series of extensive Israeli airstrikes in Nabatieh, Touline, Majdal Selm, and other locations, while citing human casualties as a result of the strikes.
