Brigadier General (res.) Dadi Simhi, former Fire and Rescue Commissioner, officially announced his intention to join political life ahead of the upcoming elections. According to Daphna Liel and Kol HaHadashot, Simhi stated at a "Shabat Tarbut" event in Rehovot that "we need to put things in order in the country and I am one with credentials who knows how to put things in order." Simhi clarified that he will not run in the Likud primaries and that he is examining offers from various parties, emphasizing that his goal is the establishment of a "Zionist government" that will respect the people's decision.
Exchanges of accusations and criticism in the political system
Parallel to Simhi's announcement, tensions were recorded regarding additional issues. The singer and fighter Idan Amedi responded to reports that attributed political statements to him and defined them as "fake." According to the Political Arena channel, Amedi called for leaving "the fighters and the bereaved families out of the equation" during the election period.
In addition, criticism of senior security officials continues. According to another report in the Political Arena, Yoram Cohen expressed concern regarding the functioning of the head of the Shin Bet, Zini, and claimed that there is a fear he will not act with statesmanship regarding his relations with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It should be noted that the "Political Arena" channel tends to present a critical line toward the security echelon and the current state system.
