[53104] Tension with Iran, diplomacy in Washington, and the conscription law storm
The political-security arena is turbulent regarding the possibility of an agreement between the US and Iran and the elimination of a senior Hezbollah official in Dahiyeh, alongside Liberman's firm statements on the issue of conscription.
Security and diplomatic tension with Iran
The last 24 hours were marked by uncertainty regarding Iran. While the White House estimates, according to a report in Political Arena, that a framework agreement to end the fighting is close, sources in Israel noted that they were not aware of the American moves and were preparing for an escalation. An Israeli official clarified that Israel was not coordinated with Trump on this matter. Conversely, PM Netanyahu emphasized that there is "full coordination" and that "there are no surprises," with an emphasis on dismantling Iranian enrichment capabilities (Political Arena).
At the same time, the elimination of the commander of Hezbollah's Radwan Force in Dahiyeh, Beirut, was reported. According to Suleiman & Blumenthal and our correspondent for affairs - Ido Tam, the operation was carried out in coordination with the US.
Internal political arena: The conscription law and Mansour Abbas
MK Avigdor Liberman, chairman of Yisrael Beiteinu, set strict demands regarding conscription. In a report by Dafna Liel, Liberman declared: "There will be no conscription law. Everyone will arrive at the induction center, including Haredim and Arabs." Liberman also referred to Mansour Abbas, noting that although he is "the first in the Arab leadership to say that the State of Israel is a Jewish state," he does not agree with his separatist worldview (Senia Waldberg).
Simultaneously, political preparations within the Likud continue. Moti Kastel reported on a meeting between PM Netanyahu and the president of the Likud tribunal and Justice Minister Yariv Levin regarding preparations for elections, against the backdrop of criticism from Haredi parties such as United Torah Judaism regarding non-compliance with coalition agreements (Political Arena).
