The 'Internet Pro' crisis in Iran: CEO of a communications company summoned for questioning

Enforcement authorities in Iran have initiated legal proceedings against communications operators against the backdrop of failures in the implementation of the "Internet Pro" project. According to the Telegram channel فناوری فوری, the CEO of one of the communications companies was summoned for questioning by the country's General Inspection Organization. The authorities claim that two main violations were committed: raising internet prices to 40,000 Tomans per gigabyte, and distributing "emergency internet" to unauthorized groups, steps that deviated from the guidelines of the Supreme National Security Council.

Simultaneously, public criticism of the project is mounting. The channel آخرین اخبار فناوری reported that the system raked in revenues of approximately 96 billion Tomans from the sale of "Internet Pro" services during a period when the public suffered from prolonged disconnections on the regular network. The same source further reported that registration for the service for doctors was halted after the user quota was reached.

Despite the tension, the channel آخرین اخبار فناوری noted that the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, is trying to promote new measures to improve internet access in the country. In the same report, it was stated that the "Dan" platform transferred approximately 10 billion Tomans as aid to businesses affected by the network shutdown.

On the technological level, the channel also reported a significant breakthrough in the field of infrastructure, with evidence of unprecedented internet speeds that allegedly allow for downloading Netflix content in just one second, an achievement attributed to the development of advanced fiber optic networks.
