Tragedy in Kramatorsk: Direct hit in the city center

On May 5, 2026, Russia carried out a heavy air attack on the center of the city of Kramatorsk using three "FAB-250" aerial bombs. According to reports by Ukrainian channels, including Espresso.TV News, as a result of the attack, at least 6 people were killed and 13 others were injured. Following the disaster, a day of mourning was declared in the city on May 6.

The National Police of Ukraine released chilling footage from the moments of the explosion. As reported by the "Khyzhak" Brigade, fighters from the "Hutsul" and "Dobryak" units were among the first to arrive at the scene: "Within one second - a bustling street turned into chaos, screams, blood, and dust." The fighters and military medical personnel, including the paramedic "Yakuza" from the "Alter Ego" battalion, operated under real danger to rescue those trapped in the rubble, as noted on the channel of Yulia Kyriienko.

Reactions and condemnations

The Ukrainian media, including the Труха⚡️Україна channel (which takes a distinctly pro-Ukrainian line), emphasized the intentional nature of the attack against civilians in the city center. At the same time, the channel of Serhiy Bratchuk exposed disparaging remarks by a Russian propagandist from the "Solovyov" channel, who called the killing of civilians in Kramatorsk a "successful strike on targets."

While Ukrainian sources emphasize the heroism of the first responders and the city's resilience, the data on the number of casualties ranged from 5 to 6 dead in various reports, which testifies to the dynamic and difficult situation in the first hours after the disaster.
