Escalation in Kharkiv: Direct hits and injuries
On the morning of May 6, the Russian army carried out a "Shahed" UAV attack on residential neighborhoods in the city of Kharkiv. According to reports from Суспільне Харків, the hits were concentrated in the Novobavarskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, where fires broke out and 12 private homes were damaged. As a result of the attacks, two women, aged 48 and 53, suffered from acute stress reactions and were treated by rescue forces.
24 Канал | Новини України reported that following the attacks, parts of the population in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions were disconnected from power supplies due to damage to energy infrastructure.
Ukraine: "May 9 truce - off the table"
Following the attacks, Serhii Sternenko, an advisor to the Ukrainian Minister of Defense, stated that Russia's actions eliminate any talk of a possible truce in honor of Victory Day on May 9. According to Times of Ukraine, Sternenko stated that "the attacks on Ukraine cancel the truce with Russia for May 9." This statement was widely circulated in other Ukrainian channels, including Женьок Вещає… and Думи хохлівЪ, which emphasize Ukraine's position that Russia's actions prove its unwillingness to engage in dialogue.
The reports reflect a unified Ukrainian narrative emphasizing Russia's deliberate targeting of civilian targets, while using official sources such as the Kharkiv City Council and the Regional Military Administration (OVA) to verify information about damage and casualties.
