Spain has confirmed it will receive the MV Hondius cruise ship at the Canary Islands ports, following a reported Hantavirus outbreak on board. Five Ukrainian citizens are among the crew, and their condition is reported as stable.

Authorities in Spain have confirmed they will allow the cruise ship MV Hondius to dock in the Canary Islands following an outbreak of Hantavirus on board. According to the UA Stream channel, coordination for the ship's arrival and the medical treatment of the passengers is being carried out in close cooperation with the World Health Organization and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
In a report by Suspilne News agency, it was stated that the ship is currently located off the coast of Cape Verde, where it is operating under quarantine procedures and preventive medical measures. The operating company, Oceanwide Expeditions, is in constant contact with local authorities to manage the health incident.
Meanwhile, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Netherlands confirmed that there are five Ukrainian citizens among the crew members on board. According to the report, their health condition is stable and no signs of deterioration have been identified. Suspilne News, which presents a journalistic position supporting the official information of Ukrainian state institutions, emphasizes that the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the medical and logistical care of the crew.
The operational plan, as published in UA Stream, includes a situation assessment by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, which will determine which passengers will require urgent medical evacuation upon arrival in the Canary Islands, while the remaining passengers will continue isolation and testing processes in accordance with international guidelines.
