Traffic reform in Ukraine: Changes to driving age and license issuance
Transportation authorities in Ukraine are advancing a new reform that may change the face of driving in the country. According to reports in Times of Ukraine: Новини | Україна, which is characterized by a distinct pro-Ukrainian stance, the reform is expected to allow teenagers to obtain a moped license as early as age 15. In addition, according to the emerging plan, the minimum age for obtaining a private car driver's license will be lowered to 17.
The report was also verified by the channel Україна Online: Новини | Політика, which noted that this is a significant change in traffic legislation. These changes come as part of a broader move to address licensing issues in the country.
Simultaneously with the changes to the driving age, the channel UA Stream published an important clarification for drivers seeking to replace or restore their license. According to the channel, there is common confusion among the public between the two actions – license replacement and license restoration – which leads to unnecessary delays at the Ministry of Internal Affairs (МВС) service centers. The channel emphasizes that a correct understanding of the differences between the services is essential for obtaining documents on time.
