Wide-scale wave of strikes in southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip
Throughout May 5, 2026, Arab media reported on intensive Israeli military activity in the Lebanese and Gazan theaters. Al Jazeera reported on dozens of airstrikes in southern Lebanon, including in the Nabatieh District (Zoutar ech Charquieh, Jebchit, Zebdine, Choukin) as well as the Tyre District (Deir Kifa, Kafra, Tibnine). Simultaneously, Al Mayadeen, which is identified with the Axis of Resistance, reported that an air defense missile was fired at an Israeli helicopter over the western sector in southern Lebanon, and that rocket barrages were fired at IDF troop concentrations.
In the Gaza Strip sector, Quds News Network reported on the demolition of residential buildings in areas under IDF control east of Gaza City, and on artillery strikes in the Al-Bureij refugee camp area and eastern Deir al-Balah. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, as published in Sputnik Arabic, the death toll in the Strip since the beginning of the war in October 2023 has risen to 72,615 people, with 3 deaths and 11 injuries reported in the last day.
Numerous reports, including on Gaza Now and Palestine TV, highlighted an incident near the "Bahloul junction" in western Gaza, where a strike was reported against a Palestinian police point that led to deaths and injuries, including children. The sources described this as a "blatant violation of the ceasefire agreements."
In addition, the Shehab Agency reported on a protest by war-wounded individuals in Gaza under the banner "My right to receive treatment," in protest against delays in departing to receive medical care outside the Strip. The reporting sources, which present a position emphasizing human suffering and opposition to Israeli activity, highlight the severe shortage of medical equipment and the "danger of slow death" due to the ongoing siege.
