Health crisis aboard the MV Hondius
A severe drama is unfolding these days in the Atlantic Ocean, as the cruise ship MV Hondius is under quarantine following an outbreak of the Hantavirus. According to reports, at least three people have lost their lives as a result of the disease, and according to Haber Gündem, the World Health Organization has confirmed the deaths of the passengers.
Aboard the ship are approximately 149 passengers who currently remain without permission to disembark. TGRT HABER reports that the situation is worsening, as there are additional cases of illness, including at least one person in critical condition in intensive care.
The reporting sources, identified with Turkish news channels, emphasize that this is an unfolding event where the passengers remain "without permission to disembark" due to the fear of the virus spreading. As of now, the ship continues to remain in the middle of the sea under severe restrictions, while international authorities examine the next steps to prevent further spread of the epidemic.
