Intense American Air Activity in the Middle East

During the night of May 5, 2026, there were reports of active and unusual movement of US Air Force (USAF) refueling aircraft across the Middle East. According to the Geopolitics Watch channel, known for its critical stance toward American and Israeli involvement in the region, 18 refueling aircraft were identified in the air simultaneously: nine over the Israel-Jordan region, and nine others in the Strait of Hormuz area.

The Bellum Acta channel, which maintains a distinct pro-Israeli and pro-American line, expanded the report and claimed that the number of aircraft might be even higher, in the range of 23-27 aircraft, with some operating with transponders turned off. According to the channel, this activity constitutes support for fighter jets following an "Iranian attack on the United Arab Emirates."

Additional sources in the region report an atmosphere of high tension. Mediterranean Man noted that the US Air Force is "very active in the Gulf and Iraq," and raised the possibility that this is a "show of force or preparation for a possible strike in the coming hours" as reported on Mediterranean Man.

At the same time, intelligence alertness regarding possible moves is evident. While Geopolitics Watch confirmed that there are unverified reports of activity by refueling aircraft over Iraq with transponders off, it also noted an unusual fact: for the first time in a long time, no continuous activity of American transport aircraft was observed on the central route from Europe to the Middle East in the last few hours.
