Ukrainian law enforcement authorities have arrested three main suspects in a large-scale corruption scandal, in which humanitarian aid intended for war victims was sold at stalls in the famous "7th Kilometer" market near Odesa. According to a report by Реальна Війна | Україна | Новини, the suspects, led by a former customs official, set up fictitious charities to import goods from Turkey under the guise of "humanitarian aid for displaced persons and war victims."
The scale of the fraud is estimated at 44 million hryvnia for approximately 50 tons of equipment. Оперативний ЗСУ notes that the suspects used the knowledge and connections of the former customs official to build the logistical network. ТСН новини / ТסН.ua adds that the authorities conducted 71 searches of residences and warehouses on April 30, during which documents, "off-the-books" accounting records, and extensive equipment were seized.
According to Новини.LIVE, the network's operations lasted from October 2025 to April 2026, with the equipment transported in 11 separate shipments. A report by Безצпечний Район emphasizes that "at customs, the equipment was declared as free aid, but after crossing the border, it became commercial." The suspects, who also include a foreign national, face criminal charges that could lead to prison sentences of up to seven years, as published by UA.NEWS.
At the same time, Кореспондент Одеси reported the exposure of a separate corruption scandal in Odesa involving the forgery of real estate documents belonging to deceased individuals, which points to extensive criminal infrastructure in the region in recent times.
