A wave of complaints from commanders in the Ukrainian army is flooding the country's media networks, claiming that the quality of recruits sent to combat units by recruitment centers (TTC) is extremely low. According to an investigation by the media outlet hromadske, which defines itself as an independent and balanced news source, field commanders describe the situation as a "walking catastrophe."
According to data cited by hromadske, Dmitry Kostyurub, a battalion commander, reports that about 70% of recruits are classified as having limited fitness. Furthermore, additional media sources, including Левый Берег Киев and Батальйон «Монако», point out that only 3 out of 10 recruits are truly fit for service. The rest of the recruits, according to the reports, suffer from drug addictions, epilepsy, or abandon their units without authorization (desertion/AWOL).

No official response has yet been received from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense regarding the claims about the need for an urgent reform in the recruitment mechanism.
