A 43-year-old resident of the city of Orenburg found himself at the center of a financial and legal storm. According to a report by Деньги в Эфире, the man, who earns between 160,000 and 180,000 rubles a month, sought to declare bankruptcy after failing to meet his obligations. However, a legal investigation revealed that he had been transferring monthly sums of about 70,000 to 80,000 rubles to a "mistress," an amount creating most of his household budget deficit. Baza notes that lawyers rejected his request, as "expenses on a mistress are not considered necessary living expenses," and therefore there is no legal basis for debt relief.
