Today, May 3, 2026, Turkey marks one year since the death of Sırrı Süreyya Önder, former Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Parliament. This political figure, known for his activism in promoting democracy and peace, is receiving wide commemorative tributes from a variety of political bodies.

In the Kurdish sector, the Rojava Gündemi channel published a special memorial message in which it defined Önder as a "martyr of peace and democracy".
