Over the past 24 hours, the city of Kharkiv has sustained a heavy barrage of attacks using "Shahed" unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to Суспільне Харків, the attacks targeted several locations across the city, including direct hits to gas stations and residential buildings. Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that in one incident, a drone entered an apartment on the 12th floor of a high-rise building in the Shevchenkivskyi district, but according to ТСН новини / ТСН.ua, the drone did not fully detonate, which prevented a large-scale disaster.
The situation on the ground is difficult, with local authorities reporting numerous casualties. According to the data from the regional OVA head, Oleh Syniehubov, as published in Суспільне Харків, at least six people were wounded in these attacks in Kharkiv, including elderly individuals and men suffering from shrapnel wounds or acute stress reactions. At the same time, rescue forces are operating at various scenes to extinguish fires that broke out as a result of the impacts.
In the southern sector, the city of Kherson experienced an equally brutal attack. Ukraine NOW reported a UAV strike in the Dniprovskyi district, which led to severe injuries to two teenagers aged 15 and 17. Meanwhile, Тарас Григорович повідомляє stated that as a result of a UAV strike on a minibus in Kherson, two civilians were killed—a municipal worker and a woman—and seven other people were injured.
At the same time, Цензор.НЕТ, a source known for its distinctly pro-Ukrainian stance, reported an unusual case in Rivne, where a warhead part of a "Shahed" UAV was found inside a private house following an attack on May 1st. Local police had to neutralize the explosive device on-site. All reports from these sources emphasize the increase in the use of attack drones against strategic civilian infrastructure and population centers across Ukraine.
