[46954] Series of severe car accidents in Ukraine: Drunk driver injures minors in Kyiv
Series of severe car accidents across Ukraine
Over the past 24 hours, several severe car accidents were reported in various locations in Ukraine, with the main incident occurring on the night of May 1st at the intersection of Radunska and Lavrukhin streets in Kyiv. According to Kyiv Operative, a 41-year-old driver behind the wheel of a Mitsubishi vehicle was under the influence of alcohol (1.07 promille) when he hit a VAZ vehicle driving in front of him.
Four young people who were in the VAZ vehicle were injured in the accident, including an 18-year-old driver, a 17-year-old boy, and two 15-year-old girls. As reported in Труха⚡️Київ, all the injured were evacuated to the hospital. Київ Сьогодні and Левый Берег Киев noted that a criminal proceeding was opened against the offending driver and he was arrested by the authorities.
In addition to the accident in Kyiv, additional incidents were reported:
- In дніпро оперативний, reports were received of two separate car accidents in Dnipro, one on Slobozhanskyi Avenue and one at the intersection of Nezalezhnosti and Novokrymska streets.
- In Суспільне Львів, a collision was reported between two vehicles near the village of Pasiky-Zubrytski in the Lviv region, where four people were injured and evacuated for medical treatment.
- UA Stream reported another incident in the Kyiv area, where a truck hit an elderly person while they were standing on the sidewalk.
The reports are based on local media outlets on Telegram. While Kyiv Operative and Труха⚡️Київ focus on rapid reporting from criminal scenes, it appears there is broad consensus among all channels regarding the severity of the incidents and the fact that these were accidents with casualties that required evacuation to medical institutions.
