Extensive drone attack wave in Russia and the Crimean Peninsula
On May 1, 2026, a wave of alerts, exceptional in its scope, regarding unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) was reported, covering vast areas under Russian control. According to the Telegram channel Lpr 1, which identifies with support for the Russian military's positions, readiness states and air raid warnings were declared in Crimea, the Belgorod, Bryansk, and Kursk regions, Krasnodar Krai, and even in more distant areas such as Lipetsk and Tula.
The channel Крымский ветер, which takes a critical line regarding the Russian presence on the peninsula, reported that numerous drones were spotted on flight paths over northern Crimea toward the east and south, noting cynically that the vehicles were "carrying 'Goida'" (an expression used to mock Russian nationalism) toward the Krasnodar region.
Experts and military bloggers, among them the channel Два майора, warned of a tactical shift in the operational patterns of Ukrainian forces. According to them, these are FPV drone "motherships" capable of striking ships, air defense systems, and military equipment, sometimes using Starlink technology, which makes jamming via electronic warfare difficult.
Additional sources such as Украина.ру, which presents a clear pro-Russian stance and sharply criticizes the administration in Kyiv, confirmed that local governors in many regions declared a "red level" of attack threat. Meanwhile, reports of fires at industrial sites as a result of drone attacks (as published on the channel Тассовка) point to potential damage to critical infrastructure in Russia.
These alerts, which also included reports of missile fire danger in the Donbas regions, created an atmosphere of growing tension, as local authorities called on citizens to take strict precautionary measures, while media outlets on both sides continue psychological warfare accompanied by reports of successes or propaganda.
