Ukraine's national railway company has updated its refund policy for tickets, implementing a tiered model based on the cancellation time.

Changes to Refund Policy at UkrZaliznytsia

Starting May 2, 2026, Ukraine's national railway company (UkrZaliznytsia) implemented a new tiered model for refunds on domestic travel tickets. As reported by Всевидящее ОКО: Україна, the refund rate will now be calculated based on the amount of time remaining until the train's departure.

Details of the New Policy:

According to reports in Всевидящее ОКО: Україна and Новости Одесса | Одеса, the new tier system is set as follows:

• 15-20 days before travel: 100% refund of the cost.


• 10-14 days: 90%-95% refund.


• 5-9 days: 75% refund.


• 1-4 days: Only 50% refund.


• Less than 24 hours before travel: Only the price of the "platskart" (basic booking fee) will be refunded.

Exceptions for Military Personnel

Despite the comprehensive changes, D7 NEWS | Демократична Сокира emphasizes that for soldiers of the Defense Forces of Ukraine purchasing tickets through the "Армія+" (Army+) application, no restrictions are expected. For this group, a 100% refund of the cost will continue to apply for any cancellation made before the train's departure.
