[108558] Heavy traffic congestion: Chalous Road and Tehran-North Freeway have become one-way
Heavy traffic congestion on central routes in Iran
This morning, Wednesday, July 2, 2026, the Iranian traffic police announced the taking of drastic measures on the roads leading north from the capital, Tehran. According to a report by the 'Akharin Khabar' channel, starting from 09:00 AM, traffic was prohibited for all types of vehicles in the opposite direction — from north to south — on the Tehran-North freeway and the Karaj-Chalous route.
The head of the traffic police explained that the decision was made in light of a "significant increase in traffic volume" in the south-to-north direction. As a result, the section between the areas of Chalous and Marzan-Abad towards Tehran and Karaj was closed to traffic until further notice, in order to allow the flow of vehicles in the opposite lane and prevent traffic gridlock.
The news was distributed in a wide range of Telegram channels, including FarsiX, Iran War Breaking News, and Pezeshkian Supporters, which reflect the widespread public interest in these disruptions. Additional sources such as Tehran Today and Khabari Plus also confirmed the details of the move, which constitutes a routine but significant emergency procedure during the holiday season in Iran.
