Tension with Iran, Takeover of the Flotilla and Severe Political Crisis

Security and Combat on Three Fronts

• Peak tension with Iran: US President Trump is temporarily suspending a military strike in Iran amid contacts mediated by Pakistan, which conveyed a new Iranian proposal consisting of 14 points to the US. In Iran, air defense systems were activated, alongside direct threats from elements in Tehran against US and Israeli forces and the deployment of Pakistani forces in Saudi Arabia.


• The Turkish Flotilla ("Marmara 2"): Shayetet 13 commandos took over a flotilla of dozens of vessels making its way to Gaza at sea, and about 100 activists were arrested. During the takeover, according to reports, the IDF jammed the flotilla's communications by playing Britney Spears songs.


• The Northern Arena: The IDF eliminated Wael Abdel Halim, a senior commander in the Islamic Jihad, in Baalbek deep inside Lebanon. Meanwhile, rocket barrages and UAV infiltrations by Hezbollah continued towards the northern conflict line (Metula, Kiryat Shmona, and Tel Hai).


• Hamas and Gaza: Muhammad Oudeh was appointed commander of Hamas's military wing, replacing the eliminated Izz al-Din al-Haddad. In the southern Gaza Strip, a terrorist planning a sniper attack against IDF forces was thwarted.

• Threat to dissolve the Knesset: A severe crisis in the coalition surrounding the Draft Law. The Haredi factions refuse to advance legislation and threaten to support the dissolution of the Knesset, amid a harsh attack by the Shas party on the Police Commissioner over the tightening of enforcement against Torah students.


• Contacts in the opposition: Naftali Bennett and Gadi Eisenkot met to coordinate joint steps ahead of elections and the establishment of a "Zionist government". On the other hand, Yair Golan attacked Netanyahu's physical and cognitive fitness.


• Additional confrontations: A stormy confrontation in the Constitution Committee between Minister Smotrich and Danny Elgarat; criticism of Minister Yoav Kisch's performance in the Ministry of Education; and growing tension with the Attorney General, who is accused by right-wing elements of acting like a "head of the opposition". The Hadash party drew criticism after ousting the only woman in a realistic spot in favor of a polygamous candidate.

• Severe accident in Tel Aviv: 11 people were injured, including an 11-year-old girl in critical condition, after a bus collided with a tree and an electricity pole on Dizengoff Street.

An unusual sandstorm in Iraq that painted the sky orange may bring haze to Israel during the holiday. Ahead of the holiday, supermarket chains launched deep discount campaigns for dairy products.


• Aviation: American Airlines announced the extension of the suspension of its flights to Israel at least until January 2027.

• Five dead in a shooting incident at a mosque in San Diego in the US.


• An Amnesty report reveals that in 2025 Iran recorded a 44-year negative record with 2,195 executions.


• In Idaho, USA, two F-18 fighter jets crashed in an air show (with no fatalities), and in Yemen, a wave of political assassinations targeting senior government officials in the city of Aden was thwarted.
