On the night between June 23 and 24, 2026, the city of Balakliia in the Kharkiv region was attacked by Russian forces using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to a report by Харьков life | Харків 🇺🇦, as a result of the direct attack on a residential area, a 56-year-old woman was killed, and another 21-year-old woman suffered an "acute stress reaction."
Head of the local military administration, Vitaliy Karabanov, confirmed the details and added that the attack caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure. According to Суспільне Харків and СУСПІЛЬНЕ НОВИНИ, the strikes caused fires in four private residential houses, a shop, and an outbuilding.

Новини.LIVE and UA Stream also reported that rescue forces are operating on the ground to extinguish the fires and assist the victims. Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, confirmed on UA Stream that this was a deliberate attack on the private civilian sector.
As of the morning hours, emergency forces continue to deal with the damage from the attack and the clearing of debris from the affected sites.
