Tonight, June 21, 2026, a red alert was declared across all of Ukraine following the takeoff of Russian MiG-31K fighter jets. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the aircraft, which serve as carriers for X-47M2 "Kinzhal" aeroballistic missiles, pose a "missile threat to the entire country" according to the Air Force statement.

Local authorities, including Lviv Governor Maksym Kozytskyi, urged the public "not to ignore air raid alerts" in light of the high risk posed by the hypersonic missiles.

Towards the morning hours, Telegram channels, including Monitor and Kyiv Times, began reporting the end of the event and the issuance of an "all-clear" after the aircraft ceased their activity and the threats subsided. The local sources, most of which present a line condemning Russian actions and supporting Zelensky and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, emphasized the need for constant vigilance in the face of Russia's ability to launch missiles from long range.
