Tension in Kyiv ahead of June 21 marches
Ahead of June 21, the city of Kyiv is preparing for volatile public events, as the KyivPride parade and activists protesting in favor of "traditional values" are expected to hold marches simultaneously. As reported in the Times of Ukraine, authorities anticipate a massive police presence in the city center aimed at preventing friction and provocations between the groups.
The newspaper Реальна Війна, which highlights the fear of escalation, notes that the "Right Sector" organization is behind the counter-initiative. Additional media outlets, including Труха⚡️Київ and Київ Головне, describe the atmosphere as one that "is remembered as something loud and scandalous," while calling on the public to exercise caution.
Changes in traffic and public transportation
Due to the events, the Kyiv City State Administration (KMDA) has announced extensive traffic restrictions. According to Реальний Київ, the "Ukrainian Heroes Square" (Площа Українських Героїв) and "Palace of Sports" (Палац спорту) metro stations, including the transfer hub between them, will be closed to passengers until the end of the events, and trains will pass through them without stopping.
In addition, Київ Головне reports that by 14:00 in the afternoon, the routes of many public transport lines will be changed, including trolleybuses No. 4, 5, 7, 8, 17 and buses No. 24, 62, 109, 110, 111, 114, and 118-D. Residents are asked to plan their routes in advance in accordance with the complex security situation expected in the center of the capital.
