[91300] Extensive drone attack against strategic energy infrastructure in the Crimean Peninsula
Massive nocturnal attack on energy infrastructure in Crimea
During the night of June 20, 2026, Ukrainian sources reported a series of targeted drone strikes against strategic energy infrastructure in the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula. According to Оперативний ЗСУ, which reports from a distinct pro-Ukrainian line, several key targets were attacked, including the 'Tavriyskaya' power plant (Tavriyskaya TPP), oil and gas storage facilities of the 'TES' company, and gas distribution stations in the Zhuravlivka and Luhivka area, as well as the bridge area near Henichesk.
The TSN Media Center noted that as a result of the strikes, power supply disruptions were recorded in several districts on the peninsula. Journalist Andriy Tsaplienko reported that a significant fire was documented at the 'Tavriyskaya' power plant complex following the attack, a claim reinforced by Serhii Sternenko, who specified that it was a "massive" strike by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Monitoring groups, including Кримський вітер (Crimean Wind), reported that on the day before the night attack, underground gas storage facilities, which are a critical component for the operation of the Tavriyskaya power plant, were hit. The 'Ukrinform' agency added that fires also broke out in other locations, including gas facilities near Sevastopol and in the courtyard of the Bakhchysarai area, where thick black smoke was observed and documented by local citizens.
Official Russian sources have yet to release data on the damage, but the 'UA Stream' channel notes that the Russians are adopting a policy of ambiguity regarding the extent of the fires and the activation of air defense systems in the region. The attack is defined by Ukrainian Telegram channels as part of the "forces of good" activity to damage the logistics and energy system of the occupying forces.
