Disclosure of documents: heavy doubts regarding the attack in Bryansk

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) published today an internal Russian document obtained during counter-intelligence operations, which contradicts Kremlin claims that Ukraine attacked a bus carrying children from a Belarusian soccer team in Bryansk using a drone. According to the document, which came from the "Safe Region" (Безопасный регион) monitoring center, no Russian military entity in the area – including the regional operational headquarters, the radar battalion in Suponevo, and the 32nd Division – identified any unmanned aerial vehicles in the airspace at the time of the incident.

Many Ukrainian media outlets, including Україна Online, Реальна Війна, and Київ Оперативний, cite the SBU, which claims that this is a "special operation" by the Russian security services, intended to lead an information campaign against Ukraine and exert international pressure. The General Staff of the AFU clarified that the Russian claims are an "informational provocation" and noted that the Ukrainian defense forces operate exclusively against legitimate military targets.

On the other hand, Radio Svoboda notes that the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, referred to the incident as a "provocation" and an attempt to drag Belarus into the war, though he refrained from placing direct and unequivocal blame on Kyiv, stating that he expects an "honest answer" from the Ukrainian side.

The reports highlight a Russian pattern of behavior that has repeated in the past: accusing Ukraine of war crimes actually committed by Russian forces, with the goal of using the events as a tool for propaganda (IPSO). Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, emphasized that Kyiv is prepared to participate in a transparent and independent investigation to determine the circumstances of the event.
