On June 16, 2026, a boy aged approximately 11-12 passed away at a hospital in Dnipro, after a four-month battle for his life following a severe traffic accident. According to TSN news reports, the incident occurred in February 2026, when the boy and his mother were crossing the road at a crosswalk on a green light, while a BMW vehicle driven by a judge ran a red light.
The case is causing a stir due to the identity of the driver involved – a judge at the Dovhyntsivskyi District Court in Kryvyi Rih, who was identified by Censor.NET as Yevheniia Kostenko. The boy, identified in other publications as Sviatoslav Andrusenko, suffered severe head injuries and had been in a coma for a long period according to UA Stream.
The judicial system is facing public criticism given that, until now, the judge was subject only to lenient conditions of "personal recognizance."
