[85906] Breakthrough in air defense: Ukrainian company Fire Point presents anti-ballistic missile system
Breakthrough in Ukraine's air defense technology
At the Eurosatory-2026 arms exhibition in Paris, the Ukrainian defense company Fire Point announced the completion of a significant development stage in its new air defense system, "Freya". According to the chief designer, Denis Stillerman, as reported in ТСН новини and Оперативний ЗСУ, the FP-7.X model interceptor missile has successfully passed trial phases and is currently in a "ready state".
As part of a memorandum of understanding signed at the exhibition, Fire Point will cooperate with the German radar manufacturer Hensoldt. According to reports from Оборонка, under the agreement, the Germans will provide the radar systems for the complex, while the Ukrainian company will be responsible for the overall architecture, including the production of FP-7.x interceptor missiles and command and control systems.
ОПЕРАТИВНИЙ ІНФОРМ notes that despite the success in flight tests, the system has not yet reached full operational capability. The company is required to undergo further integration stages and live interception tests to effectively deal with complex ballistic and aerodynamic targets.
In addition to missile capabilities, the company showcased extensive technological capabilities at the exhibition. Оборонка reported that Fire Point also unveiled advanced production machines, including a complex winding machine for long components and a 3D-X-ray scanner for quality control of composite materials used in the production of rocket motors. Company officials, as reported in In Factum, emphasized that the products displayed are "real and not models," although they were presented without warheads or navigation equipment for safety reasons.
