The European Union is tightening rules for new member states

Against the backdrop of the need to ensure unity within the European Union, the European Commission is promoting the establishment of a new protection system designed to address violations of the organization's rules by member states. As reported by Україна Сьогодні | Новини, European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, clarified that the mechanism would be applied if necessary using a method of "significant deterrence" against those who do not fulfill their obligations.

The initiative comes following past experience with Hungary, which under the rule of Viktor Orbán has systematically acted to block consensus decisions, mainly regarding the imposition of sanctions on Russia and the provision of aid to Ukraine.
