Widespread Disruptions to Train Traffic in Ukraine Following Massive Russian Attack
During the night of June 15, 2026, Ukraine experienced a massive attack that led to damage to national railway infrastructure. According to reports from Ukrzaliznytsia, as published on the Levy Bereg Kiev channel, due to the damage and the need to evacuate passengers, many trains across the country are deviating from their normal schedules with delays of up to about 4 hours.
The Operatyvnyi ZSU channel (known for its distinct pro-Ukrainian stance and sharp criticism of Russia) notes that some trains are delayed by more than three hours. The impact of the strike is noticeable throughout the country; for example, the Trukha⚡️Lviv channel reported significant delays on the Kharkiv-Lviv lines. Suspilne Kharkiv details that among the affected trains are: the Kharkiv-Lviv line (+3:30 hours delay), the Odesa-Kharkiv line (+3 hours delay), and the Kharkiv-Uzhhorod line (+3:30 hours delay).
In the Dnipro region, the disruptions led to operational changes. According to Suspilne Dnipro, the 'Diyivka' station is serving as the starting and ending point for several suburban lines instead of the central Dnipro station, as part of the efforts to repair the bombing damage. The Novyny.LIVE channel reported that the most affected line is the Odesa-Dnipro line, which is recording a delay of nearly 4 hours.
The railway company emphasizes that despite the difficulties, intercity train traffic continues. Railway crews are working on repairing the infrastructure and are calling on passengers to follow official updates on the company's website and on display boards at stations, as arrival times are expected to change according to the progress of the repairs.
